I trust you all have a Very Merry Xmas and getting ready for a fruitful (low/med/high hanging!!!) 2014....

You may enter any of the options: (i), (ii), (iii), (iv).

Monthly Competition for January 2014:

For the January 2014 “>20%” monthly oil stock competition, which oil stocks will have the greatest move for

(i) >20% gain?
(ii) >20% loss?

You may enter two stocks, one for (i) and one for (ii). More than one person may enter the same stock. The deadline for the January 2014 competition is midnight on Wednesday, 1 January 2014.

Annual Outrageous Competition for 2014:

For the 2014 Outrageous “>200%” Annual Oil Stock Competition for period 1 Jan to 31 Dec 2014, which oil stocks will have the greatest move for

(iii) >200% gain?
(iv) >50% loss (i.e. down a lot)

You may enter two stocks, one for (iii) and one for (iv). More than one person may enter the same stock. Deadline for the annual competition is also midnight on Wednesday, 1 January 2014.

2) Down - NOP

Annual Outrageous competition
For the UP, of 200%, GKP
For the down, essentially bust, without actually going so, Aminex. There'll be nought left, in my view for holders who've held for last 8 years,after the next round of financing. Might be a few candidates tumbling this coming year.

Oliex OEX for the 20% Up – high impact Q1 appraisal well

Matra MTA for the 20% Down if/when out of suspension

Annual Comp (2104)

Oilex OEX for the 200% Up - (based on the India appraisal, and if successful with production test it will unlock the significant resource potential and enable full field development of the Cambay field and the Canning Basin shale play in Australia possible JV blue sky stuff)

Tower Resources TRP for the 50% Down - Not sure Namibia will come up trumps.

Hi, given the hammering that oilers took last year I believe that other sectors are fully valued, and oilers are mostly grossly undervalued with a few exceptions. Both picks will therefore be in the Oil Sector.

January - Chariot Oil and Gas - UP

One month is not a long time so it has to be something expecting good news. I hope there will be a farmin for Chariot in Januiary - either the centrals in Namibia or an outside chance of Morocco .(even though Morocco is hotter by the day). A Mauritana'second farm to relinquish operator status (first one was Cairn) will be later in the year as will Further Namibia farmins.

Year - Chariot Oil and Gas - UP

There is so much activity going on in Morocco, and plenty to come in Mauritana and Namibia that there is likely to be a positive trigger in 2014 as the appetite for taking more risk by speculators gathers pace. The Chariot directors deals have not gone unoticed and the cash position is good. More farmins = more money and an improved share price, and in addition a strike by any of Chariots neighbours - Kosmos - BP - Tullow - Cairn etc will have a dramatic effect on the share price. There might well be a Chariot drill in Namibia and Morocco as well.... the signs are there...

Given the low market cap (c.£1.4 MM), this company could become quite interesting if it manages to secure a farm out deal in 2014 for its' offshore Danish block.

In the ">20% Up" January 2014 competition, Nordic Energy (Norp) listed on ISDX easily out ran the others with a hugemungus 417% increase in one month! The question is, can the momentum be maintained for the rest of the year....good news flows will be required. Congrats to flyingbull for winning this competition!!!

In the ">20% Down" January 2014 competition, Max Petroleum (MXP) has gone negative maxing in January with a -57% touch down due to cost cutting initiatives on drilling. Congrats to Hayfield for winning this competition!!!

Long time no talk. Trust you are keeping well.

Norp was also my pick for the 2013 annual oil stock competition (only up 20% that year). I decided to have the same pick for 2014 as well. I hardly made any comments on Norp since it was listed way back in October 2012. I was not expecting it to go ballistic in the first year of existence as the company still has a lot to prove. There were signs in recent months that it could start to move.

“Since the year end, the Company has made further progress in achieving the goals it set out on its listing on the ICAP Securities & Derivatives Exchange ("ISDX") in October 2012. Within our first year of being a listed Company, we announced in September 2013 the successful application and acquisition of Licence 01/13, the largest exploration and production licence in the Danish North Sea, covering an area of 3,622 sq km in a proven hydrocarbon system. This Licence is located close to existing production and multiple discoveries in the Central Graben (50 km) and Siri (100 km) areas.

on 14 January 2014, the Company announced that it has applied to the Danish Energy Agency for an additional exploration and production licence in the Danish North Sea covering eight offshore blocks comprising an area of 1,750 sq km directly adjacent to Nordic's existing licence.

We will soon be able to provide a technical update that should help define the potential of the Licence area and look forward to keeping shareholders informed with the developments we make.”

It would be interesting to see the results of the technical update.

The Annual ">200% Up" and ">50% Down" competition results:

Despite the oil pice crash in the second half 2014, when taking 2014 as a whole, we still see some significant winners in the 2014 Outrageous >200% Up Competition. Top of the tree is LGO which increased its' share price by a massive 452% due to a succession of positive drilling results and acquisitions. Congrats to 12bn for winning this outrageous competition!!!

As for the 2014 >50% Down Competition, congrats to Hocine8 for winning it with ENDV(US) whose share price went down 100%, effectively. It seems like a classic case of the company overstretched itself and ran into deep red when projects did not pan out as expected.
