I've just moved business premises and my new office is on the 2nd floor of a Victorian house in Cardiff. The office faces west and the combination of being on the 2nd floor, the lovely weather and the fact that I'm a counsellor and hence less able to open the windows I decided to purchase a fan.

I wanted an effective, quiet, stylish fan to match my office. I decided to purchase a Dyson Air Multiplier 07. Not cheap at £299, but it's stylish and the air flow is less choppy than a traditional fan and therefore it should be less intrusive should I need to use it during a session. I wanted a nice Silver & White one, not the garish Blue one. All in all a fantastic design. Well done Mr. Dyson.

Incredibly they are like Dodo's eggs. You cannot buy one for love nor money unless you want to pay £600+ on Amazon. Everywhere is out of stock, even the Dyson online store and they are unavailable until the end of July. Worse still, the same happened last year too according to one supplier. Talk about a missed opportunity.

So it's all very well having a fantastic ground breaking product but if your operations isnt up to scratch you can miss the boat.

Meanwhile I'll keep stewing in my own juices.

That is a great shame, of course being a private company, they have no shareholders to answer too, and I'm pretty sure even if they could make all the fans that they could sell at that price, the profits would amount to less than a rounding error on the vacum cleaner business. Mr Dyson is wealthy beyond the dreams of most already, taking home 50M a year from memory.

One thing I did find interesting as an aside, I was in El Cort Ingles in barcelona, an up market department store in barcelona, alongside the bathroom stuff is a Dyson hand drier, never seen one for sale in the uk, approximately 1000 pounds or euros, Can't imagine many buying one but curious that they should stock it in a main stream shop. I didn't see any fans, perhaps for the reason you mention in your post.

I'm not being flippant, just pointing out that a minor glitch in vaccum cleaner production is much more important to Dyson than a complete standstill in fan production, I would imagine management effort into each product in some way reflects that.

Fair points. I guess if I was the CEO of Dyson, I'd be disappointed at a missed opportunity both in terms of sales and getting their product into the market which might drive further sales ... "Oh I like your funky fan!"

The Dyson air blade hand driers are incredible. My experience of them (at a farm park) was that had a great design but they were very noisy. Interestingly I recently visited the same farm park two years later and they'd been replaced with a more traditional type drier.

I find the Dyson air blade one of their least convincing product, the hygiene situation is a bit of a disaster as it requires super human ultra-coordinated athletes not to touch the sides, so the whole alleged benefit of the no-touch design is gone when you put it in a toilet that normal clunky people use. It's designed for vulcans not humans. And it doesn't seem to dry hands any better than normal fast flow hand driers which don't require advanced coordination skills.

Blimey, you must hands like The Hulk. :-)

You simply place your hands into the unit up the wrist and withdraw them in one sweep. All the water is pushed down your fingers. Much faster than rubbing your hands together which are covered in water in the first place. Each to their own of course.

It's more of a Mr Bean issue, imagine him encountering a Dyson Air Blade? :-) Maybe I can imagine it works with a swift Kung-Fu style move as you describe, after some training, but the faster you go presumably the lesser the already weak drying effect.
