Gambling as part of MY Investing Strategy.

This article is inspired by Robbie Burns New Book - Trading Like A Shark.  I can relate so closely to his method that I wanted to highlight it without hopefully plagarism as I am writing what really does resemble my real life trading activities.

It’s about my emotions

Isn’t gambling exciting and fun. When we put on a high risk trade, a penny stock, an oiler, or we have caught that falling knife. We multi-bag in a couple of days. We feel so exhilarated, joyful and believe that we are masters of the world. We think we know exactly what we are doing. We believe we are good gamblers, experts and we all like to boast on how easily it is to make our riches.

My emotions fool me

But all gamblers eventually lose. Our multi-bag luck has giving way to lots of losses. We have all been there haven’t we? We all thought we knew what we were doing when we put on far too much money on a gamble, trying to chase the excitement. We are full of confidence that we can pull off the multi bag again. But it doesn’t happen. We feel regret, pain, sorrow and for some this gives way to something worse. We realise after all that we ain't that good after all. We feel hopeless and a lot poorer than before.

I sometimes seek revenge

But we really want to try our best and get some of our money back. We gamble more in the hope now to break even. We may gamble the last bit of money we have. We are hopeful, but fearful. We are desperate, sad, frightened and now so full of regret we can’t think straight. Our career as a private investor is short lived. We realise that working nine to five is our only future. We suck at gambling and now we try to tell everyone one simple lesson.

Don’t Gamble they say! - But it ain’t that Easy.

We are only human after all.  I love the urge to gamble. I really do. I need to gamble and I want to gamble. I want to feel the excitement. My urge is too strong not to gamble you see. I can’t stop gambling. I am only human and I accept that as the gamber in me then I will face the same emotions over and…
