How would I identify shares that have a high growth/capital gain prospect with a high stock ranking?
They would be useful for an investment aimed at realising a capital gain for a higher rate taxpayer trying to use the tax free capital gains allowance.

The best way is to screen for them. To do that look under HELP and then Screening guide.
Have a look at the growth screens by following "SCREENS" then "GROWTH SCREENS". That will give you a few ideas. One way would be to FORK one of the screens then add a further rule for Stock rank > 80
(FORK means to create your own variant of one of the existing screens)
Why not simply screen for the intersection of low/zero dividends and high stockrank (or high QV). For your purpose you don't care as such whether the companies are growth companies, you just want to maximise returns that are not paid as dividends. That screen will get a fair number of growth companies but also good companies that are just paying back debt, or paying out profits in other ways because major shareholders are also minimising dividend taxes, or any other reason a company may have to pay low dividends.
