Hydro International, the UK/US manufacturer of storm and waste water control/treatment products announced positive preliminary results for the year to December 31st 2010 and has emerged in good form after a difficult 2009 brought on by the collapse of the Western construction industry and a pause in public water treatment budgets in 2009. Though revenues were up by a modest 3% to £28.2 million, operating profit (£2.4 million) and EPS (11.2p) beat its broker’s expectations by 20% and 22% respectively.

The UK Wastewater market was especially strong as the industry transitioned into the Asset Management Plan (AMP) 5 – Hydro secured a £15.6 million deal to supply the Zickert Sludge Scraper technology to the Thames Water plant in Beckton, as well as other major projects in the UK and US. Though the majority of the company’s business is in the US and UK, Hydro is finding increasing business in other locations, notably in the Far East and Latin America.
