I have been using Stockopedia since last summer and very much appreciate the informed and thought provoking discussions, as well as the ranking and traffic light approach.

However, I am hoping someone might be able to explain some anomalies that seem to be appearing in the momentum scores. I recognise that it has been a pretty torrid start to 2016 but some of the momentum rank scores are giving me cause for concern. Some make absolute sense such as Quarto's last months performance and Penna Consulting for example.

But then I look at number 3 on the momentum rank - Lok'n Store which has a 99 momentum rank up 9 in the last 30 days whereas the relative strength scores show a 5.7% drop in the last 30 days as the price has fallen from around 350p to 320p. Over 2 months the price has actually fallen approaching double that. Why would the momentum score increase against a steadily falling share price.

AB dynamics has a momentum score of 99 and yet has traded sideways for almost 3 months.
First Property has a momentum score of 99, an increase of 7 in the last 30 days and yet the momentum figures show a 1.5% decline in the last month and around a 10% decline in the last 7 weeks, so why the momentum rank increase?

Dart Group has a 98 momentum rank yet has fallen 10% in the last 30 days - why has the score not declined in tandem?

Lighthouse has a momentum rank of 95 yet has traded sideways for 3 months, H&T has a stock rank of 99 and a momentum rank of 84 yet has traded sideways for the best part of 12 months, NWF has a momentum rank of 97 and yet the price has been falling for 3 weeks - why are the scores are so slow to respond given they are updated each night?

Emprasaria has a momentum rank of 95 and yet the relative strength figures show a 1 month decline of 12.7% and the price has been broadly declining since November last year, whilst the good performance of Debenhams seems to have been captured in the momentum rank scores.

I just wonder if volatility is going to become the norm then perhaps…
