This may be due to lack of knowledge on my part, if so please forgive me.
When I look at a chart I tend to use the 50 and 200 simple moving average. Taking ITV (LON:ITV) as an example, today the
1 year chart shows the 50sma is 186.6
3 year chart shows the 50sma is 201.2
I don't understand why the 50sma is different on the 1 year and 3 year view. Surely if it's the average over the last 50 days, it should be the same?
PS this discrepancy is also present on the 200sma etc
