Good morning. 1pm (LON:OPM 0.23p) have announced a sensible move to consolidate their shares, which are currently 0.26p each. They will issue 1 new share for every 147 existing ones, which will reduce the number of shares from almost 4.4 billion to just under 30m shares.

It's an interesting company, providing asset financing to SMEs, a niche that the larger banks have mainly withdrawn from. 1PM has a sensible underwriting policy, and generally gets personal guarantees from borrowers, so their bad debt record is very good, i.e. very low. Also they lend on attractive margins.
Unfortunately, I missed the boat on this one, and dithered too long when I should have just taken the plunge when they were flagged up to me recently at 0.15p per share. I don't normally touch any shares in the financials sector, but would make an exception in the case of 1PM, as it's a simple business that I can understand easily, and has straightforward accounts.

However, people who buy on tips tend to have the attention span of a goldfish, and the price goes up for a couple of weeks, and then comes back down again. So this perhaps gives more experienced investors an opportunity to sell into the spike. I won't be doing that with Vislink though, as it's a core long term holding for me, and I'm looking for 50-100p per share from…
