After a busy Friday running around central London, the Stockopedia team were ready for the UK Investor Show. The show saw several thousand investors leave the sunshine outside and pour through the doors of the QEII Centre in Westminster.  With more than 90 companies exhibiting and some of the UK’s top financial speakers on the main stage it’s little surprise most of the attendees stayed for the full day.

Among the highlight speakers were the ever-popular UK fund manager, Mark Slater, Britain’s Buffett Nigel Wray and bear-raider Evil Knievel. Stockopedia’s Ed Croft took to the main stage before lunch in an interactive session that illustrated how our self-defeating behaviours can cripple investment returns. It may have been the first time a main stage session ever included live interactive polling and somehow we managed to pull it off without any technical glitches.  For those that are interested, you can watch a video below - sorry for the slightly shaky video but I left the tripod in the car!

As always, the Stockopedia stand was packed throughout the day.  Passers by had the chance to explore the application, ask the team questions and listen to on-stand presentations on how to get the most out of the site.

After lunch, Ed took a pair of 1 hour seminar sessions in the main breakout “Analyst” room.   The first was an introduction to the philosophy of Stockopedia and how to orient the site.  The irrepressible Paul Scott took a cameo to highlight a few selections, after his previous year’s picks had stormed to a more than 30% return.

Ed was back on stage shortly after with a reprise of his StockRanks inspired NAPS webinar. Unsurprisingly after such a standout year’s performance in 2015 (+43%) this was an extremely popular talk and standing room only.  He updated the slides from the December webinar and added more performance details…  so for anyone who couldn’t quite see, hear or even get into the presentation, here are the slides.
