I am a keen & experienced investor. I love my spread sheets, and like to think that I know what I am doing. I wouldn't be offended to be described as a bit geeky. Mostly I do well, but I always strive to do better. Married male. Born 1957 England. Good career in industry for 35 years. Been successfully investing for about 30 years. I chose to retire from salaried employment at age 57 to look after my investments. I consider myself to be quite analytical / logical / mathematical, but also take into account how the world is likely to change & how people behave. I always follow my processes before taking action. more »
I think the tie up with Google is the catalyst
This from Telit to your inbox regarding Google Cloud Bigtable:
Dear Readers,
Welcome to the May edition of the Telit2yourInbox newsletter.
A very important announcement was made a few days ago that is likely to have broad reaching impact on the development of the IoT. I am referring to the Google Cloud Bigtable. In the announcement, they explain that the same database that powers Google Search, Gmail and Analytics is now to be available on Google Cloud Platform.
That is revolutionary. And to take advantage of this power, Google has launched the project with a service partner ecosystem they conceived to help get companies started quickly. The idea with the composition of the ecosystem is to enable a diverse and expanding set of Cloud Bigtable use cases for Google customers.
Telit heads up the IoT expertise area (in fact the only IoT partner) in Cloud Bigtable and together with Google we are available to help you take a new approach to data storage connecting and enabling your things in the Internet of things.
Find out for yourself why Telit’s deviceWISE is the IoT Application Enablement Platform (AEP) of choice for Google Cloud Bigtable. Try it Free now to see just how quickly and easily you can start harnessing the power of the Internet of Things.
And speaking of free trails, I would also like you to invite you to try Telit’s cellular connectivity and Connected Device Platform (CDP) value added services which let you get your cellular capable devices communicating quickly and reliably with one of industry’s most comprehensive and feature rich management portals at your disposal to manage from a few to millions of devices with ease. Sign up to receive a free starter kit which comes not only with SIM cards but also with full access to 24/7 global support to ensure you are fully setup for both AEP and CDP plus connectivity.
NOW INNOVATE!
Oozi Cats
Not 100% sure but it may be due to this:
Telit has announced their tie-up with Google's new cloud offering called Google Cloud Bigtable. They are preferred partners for IoT expertise. Apparently this was done in a newsletter from Oozie Cats the CEO.
I think the tie-up with Google is very significant. Using Google Cloud Platform, Google Cloud BigQuery and now Google Cloud Bigtable, developers are being given the tools to design and market IoT applications. The fact that Telit is in the ecosystem with Google at the start can only be good for the company
I topped up this morning.
The same question occurred to me. I think it should be an RNS or something similar or be announced on the TELIT website at least.
I have eventually found the following:
RNS Number : 7894X
Telit Communications PLC
24 November 2014 (It's not a link, but you can look it up yourself)
This RNS relates to the same tie up with Google. It looks like there may have since been some further development on this eg BIGTABLE and that TELIT is now using in its newsletters.
Yes I saw that I think then they were only bidding to be the company to provide that? Now it seems they have been appointed?
Well it seems promising. My only gripe is directors pay seems excessive, Cats gets $3.5m.
