A faster and more usable Discussion Board

Tuesday, Apr 19 2011 by

Just a quick post to say we have made a few changes to the discussion board to make it faster and more usable.  We'll probably do a screencast in due course, but insummary here are the key changes:

  • Topics: We've added some top level topics - available from the topics link in the header.
  • Company Boards: All discussion boards have a similar header for ease of navigation - while we wanted to put in the links to all the company specific news, share price and chart pages under the company specific discussion header, we found they just cluttered the interface.  Hopefully everyone agrees this is simpler and more browsable.  The company page is available from the sidebar widget but also from the hyperlink on the ticker in the header.
  • Favourites: Favourites are more easily available and quicker to load.  The 'bookmark list' is available from the link in the header on your favourites discussion stream.
  • Search: You can switch discussions much more easily by the available local search box - just input a ticker.
  • Navigation bar: We have reverted to the horizontal tabbed sort filters as all the feedback was that the vertical navigation was a bad idea!

I hope this is a better, faster and more navigable discussion stream.  Once you get used to it, you should find it is way more easy to find the best content.

Please let us know here any other improvements you'd like to see or any bugs you find.

Here I get the Editor option, but when I now reply to a post Edit is not offered  to me: too late, ate too well, or a bug?

Emptyend has pointed that one out too! We'll try and get a fix in the next couple of days.
