Executive Summary
Sierra Leone Diamond Company Limited is a diamond exploration and development company focused on the West African country of Sierra Leone. Since 1996, SLDC and its wholly owned subsidiaries (collectively the ''SLDC Group'' or the ''Group'') have assembled what is the largest portfolio of mineral rights in Sierra Leone, covering some 36,364 square kilometres, which rights include not only diamonds but in many cases also precious metals, base metals, iron ore, rutile, bauxite and rare earths. Historically, high quality and valuable diamond deposits have been discovered in Sierra Leone, with several of the world's largest and most valuable stones originating in the country. Sierra Leone participates in the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (''KPSC''), a voluntary system that imposes extensive requirements on participants to certify that shipments of rough diamonds are free from ''conflict diamonds''. The SLDC Group is developing Sierra Leone's diamond and mineral potential through a modern, systematic exploration programme using its five regional support bases and has assembled an experienced management team both locally in Sierra Leone and internationally.
