AIM Prospector morning thoughts (BRK, IND, CNKS, NCON)

Wednesday, Sep 17 2014 by

Good morning,

Financial services firm Brooks Macdonald (LON:BRK) is one of AIM's most successful companies. The company has enjoyed a fantastic growth record in the past but this year's result shows a smaller growth in earnings of 'just' 5%. There is still a very healthy dividend increase.

Pre-tax profit £10.6m £10.4m +2%
Adjusted pre-tax profit* £13.3m £13.6m (2%)
Revenue £69.1m £63.2m +9%
Earnings per share 69.01p 65.88p +5%
Adjusted earnings per share* 86.24p 87.94p (2%)
Total funds under management ("FUM") £6.55bn £5.11bn +28%
Proposed final dividend 19.0p 16.0p +19%
Total dividends 26.0p 22.5p +16%

Markets have been supportive, particularly in the first half of the calendar year ... After a year of flat profits we expect to return to profit growth. New business has started the year well and the Board remains confident for the future of the Group.

CCTV software and kit firm Indigovision (LON:IND) has impressed this morning with strong interims:

Revenue up 16% to record £37.2m, up 20% in constant currency
Operating profit before currency movements up 55% to £2.71m
Operating profit up 20% to £2.45m
Diluted earnings per share up 40% to 32.4p
Second interim dividend 6p, up 9% year-on-year

the excellent progress in the last twelve months has been the beginning of a more sustained period of growth and we look forward to the future with a sense of confidence.

Paul Scott has a longstanding interest in this stock so look out for any mention he might give the company today.

Finally, corporate stockbroker Cenkos Securities (LON:CNKS) shows just how geared this type of firm is to the financial markets with their interims:

30 June 2014 30 June 2013
Revenue +226% £65.2m £20.0m
Profit before tax +653% £23.5m £3.1m
Basic earnings per share +700% 31.2p 3.9p
Interim dividend per share declared +100% 7.0p 3.5p
Cash +164% £43.2m £16.3m
Nominated adviser or corporate broker / financial adviser to 127 companies 122 companies

...We have made a good start to the second half of 2014 with an encouraging pipeline of deals.

A lack of progress has been reported by communications firm Norcon
