(i) >20% gain?
(ii) >20% loss?
You may enter two stocks, one for (i) and one for (ii). More than one person may enter the same stock. The deadline for the March competition is midnight on Sunday, 28 February 2010.

Easy to go for Aminex this month, but I'll try Key Petroleum (KEY) over in Oz.
Their shareprice has been languishing around the 10c level for a while on light volume down, apathy and dilution worries. Hopefully the SP will recover with the results of the KN-1/Nyui seismic interpretation and there'll be some idea of field size for KN-1 and that it is a fair bit larger than first thought.

I expect all of my oilies to go up 20% this month (!! ;-) ) but for this purpose I have to go for Aminex (AEX) with fingers crossed for a positive result at Likonde 1 getting the 20% in the bag next week!
Don't do 20% downs....not on purpose anyway!

Most here have surely got something in Aminex - if Likonde does strike something it'll be up much more than 20% :-)
...but not wanting to tempt fate I'll choose something else:
COP - on market eventually waking up to how undervalued this is.

I hold AEX, but will ignore for this month - Likonde as many are saying will drive the SP at this time and has attracted 'hot' money so is likely to register as the winner but no one can tell whether it will be the +ve or -ve. For the longer term holders it will be interesting to see if management update on Kiliwani North in March, perhaps Shoats Creek news will be in and who knows how the agreement in North Korea may develop (the real wild card).
EO. is unlikely to move unless they stun the market with gas storage news, seems a pretty safe place to have your money considering it is valued at around cash level. EO. might get a bit more racier when Cladhan activity looms.
MOG updated during February, received well but funding is the name of the game there - unlikely to be resolved in March.
For the up I am going for COP - I think they are aware they need to try and bring clarity to their valuation, speculation I know but some are saying they are presenting in the City. Perhaps there might be a sniff of news on Oman, COP also do not seem short of funds and there has been 11 Egyptian exploration blocks bid for in November 09 with results due March/April. No idea if COP were involved in the process but IMO not impossible. Anyway it seems unloved and I hold !

Another short one from me this month.
AEX is the obvious punt for both >20% up and down - arguably Solo is even more so.
COP is so bizarrely unloved at the moment I dont know what they need to do. Actually, a CPR and the figures will help.
PCI - another unloved stock. Fidelity and the others who bought Iberdrola's stake at 16p are now sitting on a big loss despite all the successes that theyve had in Algeria and Italy is gettng ever closer. Perhaps news of a farm in ?
DNX - having bought in around 1020p following its underperformance, it looks so undervalued relative to the Core NAV's with lots of value add opportunities over the coming months. Perhaps we may see one of the rumoured bidders from last year come back. Id imagine a quick cash bid now around the 1500p level woudl stand a good chance of being successful before DNX can come up with big drilling news.

Up 20% DNX : although I think TLW will do well this month when all the agreements are finalised and the money flows their way, I think Dana has fallen too far recently and is due a bounce, with perhaps rumours of M & A.
Down 20% DES desire: one or two plastic sabres rattled in Argentina and at the UN should achieve this.

I have completely excluded one stock from consideration at this juncture, for obvious reasons.
From the rest, I go for DNX for the up........not only undervalued but Anne Marie looms large.
Difficult for me to pick a down these days.....

Not running for cover yet for COV this month! :-) An excellent 40.1% gain for COV, just managed to beat last year's
hightest oil riser, XEL, to second place in the ">20%" Up competition for March.
There were signs of stock picking maturity in the ">20%" Down competition with 10 punters going for DES which
unfortunately descended by 53.3%. Exploration drilling is a risky business. Value can be added quickly but the downside is also massive.
