LON:CBX | Anyone Else Invested In Cellular Goods - CBX?

Thought I would start this one off.

Any other members in at the IPO or have invested Cellular Goods (LON:CBX)

Relatively new to Stockopedia (only a year in) and enjoying the content and input.

What makes me curious is why is this considered a sucker stock? We have no factual info to come to such a conclusion, for it has only been trading a month.

I don't believe it is a gamble however I do believe it is one to get into at the start.

Can't claim to be great on the technicals but I do have a good handle on the fundamentals. I also happen to know a lot about David Beckham.

Interested in others point of views and other cannabinoids. I do feel this one sector for the future.

Just for the record I am not a pot head, I can't stand the smell of the stuff.

It is classed as a sucker stock because all the rankings, value, quality and momentum are below 50. I agree there is not much to go on, surprised it is rated on Stockopedia yet.

THG (LON:THG) has been trading for much longer but still no ratings.

Ahhh top tip- rectified the header. Think you are being a bit harsh on yourself. Beckham is worth £300mill and the fella that is involved with Argo Block chain all have substantial holdings, so I think you are in good company and far from numpties.

I bought Cellular in the IPO solely because of the hype surrounding David Beckham. I banked a substantial profit immediately I got a quote and would not reinvest even at the 10p it is now trading at.

Hi
I bought £500 worth of shares pre-IPO. Before close on day of listing, I withdrew my £500 invested and have decided to let the profit stock run. I keep quite close to developments in evolvement of legalisation of cannabis in the states, coupled with Peter Wall being a non-exec on the board too, hence content to hold profits and see how things go over the next year or so ...

In at 5p and out at 21p. It was extremely over-hyped and there was quite the fenzy for shares and allocation during the IPO so it was always going to come crashing back down. Will look to re-enter if it gets close to 7p.

I think there some value here, but its long terms the delay in product launch is a kicker but I think £2 is possible

Oxford Cannabinoid Technologies Holdings (LON:OCTP) looks interesting - not looked at it before. Why do you think it is a better bet than Cellular Goods (LON:CBX) ? I see that Imperial Brands Ventures holds an 11% stake. Presumably this is part of Imperial Brands (LON:IMB) that has been making noises about making strategic moves away from tobacco. Do you see their interest here as a good thing (big cash rich partner with the capacity to give them a leg up as and when they have approved products to sell) or a threat (they’ll run off with business at a low bid premium if it ever looks like taking off)?

Hi Gus,

I'll admit I'm not that well read on Cellular Goods (LON:CBX) . Their technology certainly looks interesting, though I'm not sure I see the main benefits for it to gain widespread commercial application? It looks quite niche, potentially targeting the Elite sports athlete CBD market? How is it better than producing the compounds naturally and using chemical extractions outwith this type of setting?

Oxford Cannabinoid Technologies Holdings (LON:OCTP) , has a key strategy to develop pharmaceuticals with an umbrella R&D agreement with Oxford. They are also not limiting themselves to synthetic cannabinoids only but are pursuing these as part of a broader portfolio. I think it was essentially 'a bit grubby' for Oxford to be seen to be involved in 'weed' but they have a lot of good current and ongoing research in the area so it's been/being spun out like this instead, it means though, i think it ensures a firm pipeline of drug targets to always be in place.

Definitely a speculative one though, I hold a few, currently down about 15% but not a large holding for me! I'll ride it out as i think it could be an interesting share if it finds momentum.

As for the involvement by Imperial Brands (LON:IMB) , I'm not too sure tbh... i guess at this stage in the company's life cycle, a backer with deep pockets is useful. Though certainly noteworthy in the context of Phillip Morris also trying to takeover Vectura (LON:VEC) , i wonder why big tobacco is going into the pharma industry?

Long term the bull case for Oxford Cannabinoid Technologies Holdings (LON:OCTP) is that it could maybe be the next GW Pharma !
