Not a chart I have really ever examined as I always keep at least 25% in cash (3 adult children big financial needs!!). I have looked all over the site but cannot find the explanation of the benchmark that is used for My Folio. Can anybody educate me please? Paul
I believe they use the FTSE Allshare index.
If you click on the chart it should say Which index it is.
However I find my performance is very inaccurate unless I don’t buy and sell any shares.
I find it better to use my own spreadsheet for this because 1) I can pick the most appropriate benchmark. 2) I can account for purchases & sales in the manner that I think is best. 3) I can account for cash additions and withdrawls, dividends or any other events in the manner that I choose. Of course the downside is that I had to create the spreadsheet, and then I have to maintain it. The upside is that I believe the results that it shows are correct, meaningful and appropriate.
Brilliant thank you and all sorted. I am not going to complicate matters by adjusting for large cash holdings. It had not specified which index it was using but now said FTSE All share.
