For the October 2011 “>20%” monthly oil stock competitions, which oil stocks will have the greatest move for

(i) >20% gain?
(ii) >20% loss?

You may enter two stocks, one for (i) and one for (ii). More than one person may enter the same stock. The deadline for the October competition is midnight on Sunday 2 October 2011.

Ah well, two options stand out for me:

The exceptionally high risk ROZ (well result way over due and length of time drilling puts full programme in doubt due to cost over runs)

or

The much lower risk Aminex (LON:AEX)

Sensible head says AEX for me.

Then again, arent we due an update on the completion of the Zaedyus well?? Further good news and Wessex Exploration (LON:WSX) or Northern Petroleum (LON:NOP) should do well.

Aex up for me.

On the downside, erm, BNK or Blvn, both seem unloved at the moment. Would go for PMG, but there's something unnerving about it's gravity defying performance.

On the upside Ascent (AST) yet again for me please. Only a matter of time......surely?!

Whoops, forgot a down stock.

Always tempting for PMG to get a mention but......

Maybe DEO - they are leaving the announcement that FDP has been submitted right to tthe wire..

Then again, I like the DEO story and it looks insanely cheap relative to PMG looking through the JV so I reckon I will go for Xcite Energy (LON:XEL) for the down.

The reason? - Dont like the management - think theyve been a bit fly but what really concerns me is the FDP approval by DECC and the release of funds/confirmation of funding. Cant get rid of the feeling that somethign somewhere is not right.

The jigsaw really does seem to be coming together now, but all will depend on the result of Nyuni2 which will surely be this month (and first part of).

Just got back from business travel, suffering another round of jet lag but finally got time to compile the October
competition results. Glad Red October did not materialise with slg, pci, ast and ceo all made it through the 20%
gain barrier. The high profile casualty for October was Aminex; sometimes one wonders what to do with this problem child!

Congratulations to wshak for sticking it with slg.v and rewarded with a bumper 82% gain to win the > 20% Up
Competition!!

As for the >20% Down competition, congratulations to dearleader, enobarbus65 and ghh for winning this competition with aex, down a sizeable 46%.
