It operates four divisions: i) Civil Engineering work in marine, airport, public health, road, rail and energy sectors; ii) Building, iii) Oil, Gas and Process and iv) International operation which provides construction management services to a number of major commercial, retail and hotel projects operation. The Group operates in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Zimbabwe, the United Arab Emirates, Botswana and Malaysia.
Revenue for the year to 31 December 2007 was £877.9 million and operating profit was £16.5m.
Company History
- Costain dates back to 1865 when Richard Costain founded the original construction business in Liverpool.
- Costain was floated as a public company in 1933 with a share capital of £600,000.
