Interesting to see Cove getting stuck into the kenyan offshore blocks that used to belong to Dana.
The CEO of Cove - John Craven - used to be Dana's man in Africa. His main project was Ghana. He/Dana bigged it up but couldn't get partners to share the costs/risks and ultimately let it go. History has proved they were absolutely right but it's Tullow et al who are now benefitting.
Kenya was another area for which Dana had great hopes but they were frustrated by their partner Woodside who went limp wristed and pulled out, thereby scuppering that project.
I'm intrigued that Craven is now centring Cove's new exploration activity on the old Dana blocks.
Think of oil people returning to locations they explored in previous lives - eg Excite, Enquest, Bayfield, Roxi.......
Is the image one of a dog smelling an old lamp-post? or a squirrel going back to his nuts?
