Executive Summary

Cranswick plc, based in East Yorkshire, has activities focused in the pet, agribusiness and food sectors. The development of the pet activities commenced in 1993 with the acquisition of the Buckton bird food business. This was an extension of the expertise developed in our agricultural business in raw materials and milling. The pet business was expanded in 1995 with the purchase of Tropical Marine, specialist supplier of tropical marine fish and aquatic products, and 1996 with the acquisition of Magnet, manufacturer of bird and small animal food. Cranswick's original activity, the production of pig feed, has been extended during March 2000 with the purchase of a feed mill and related business at Wellingore, south of Lincoln. The aim of the development strategy has been to focus on specialist, but related areas, in the pet, agribusiness and food sectors, identification of suitable acquisitions with strong management teams and investment in those businesses.
