Dq Entertainment (LON:DQE), the animation, gaming live action entertainment and distribution company, has made its first move into Thailand’s home video market with an exclusive five-year distribution agreement for one if its 3D animated series with TIGA Entertainment. Under the terms of the agreement, Thailand-based TIGA has acquired the home video rights for “Iron Man - Armoured adventures season 1” in English and Thai for the region of Thailand. The news was enough to push the shares up by 0.7% to 133p early on, leaving them still off the 12-month high of 140p they reached at the end of March but still substantially better than the low of 93.5p they touched in February.

TIGA has a comprehensive marketing business plan for Home Video Distribution (HVD) for animation content in Thailand. TIGA is understood to be one of the leading HVD companies in the region with licenses for home video distribution, broadcasting and merchandising for various animated properties from regions such as China, Japan, Thailand, Korea and selected European countries. Thailand continues to have a large and ever growing market for home video distribution and digital content.

The first season of Iron Man premiered in the US on the Nicktoons Network on 24 April 2009 and started airing on the Canadian network Teletoon from 12 April 2009. The hour-long premier of the season broke Nicktoons Network's record of highest-rated original series attracting over 125,000 viewers.

Tapaas Chakravarti, the chairman and chief executive of DQE, said: “Our high octane animated superhero, Iron Man, debuted in Thailand on Turner Entertainment Networks' children's channel and received rave reviews. The action packed adventure series of Iron Man has garnered a huge fan following amongst children in this region. This maiden foray into the Thai home video market for DQE is incredibly exciting. We believe that the home video market in Thailand is perfectly suited for DQE's entertainment content, and we are very pleased to make Iron Man available to a wider audience with the help of TIGA.”

India-based DQE is a major producer of animation and visual effects (VFX) for global TV series, feature films, direct-to-home videos (DTH) including online, mobile and next-generation console game art and in-game animation.
