Dream #1

Theresa May fondly now known as Mrs Fixit gains full EU rights for the UK to freely trade, free movement of UK people, and of UK capital.  The simplicity of the negotiations is brilliant.  Everything  is to remain the same via access to Europe with the UK ability to adopt or change any EU legislation as it pertains to the UK.

The mere cost requested is a matter of a multiple of Britain's existing contribution to the EU. Independence does come at a financial cost, but independence is cheap at any price. The UK feels great again and free to do its own trade deals with other countries from a position of strength.  May and Trump (Mrs Fixit and Mr Trumpet) do a new ground-breaking trade deal trade. May 1st is a public holiday.  Sterling rises to new highs and the UK economy never looks back.

Dream #2

A worker leaves his own trade union due to disappointment with the union over the last last decade.  The union was apparently holding back his full potential.  Far too much bureaucracy for his likening.  Why should he have to listen to union officials telling him what to do?  He knows an alternative way.

He might even negotiate a better deal within his own place of work, more suited to his flexi-time preferences.  His former union members of course while understandably disappointed at his decision fully recognise his right for self-determination.  The union members eventually indulge his wishes and work happily beside him.

Wishful thinking in both dreams.   A dream catcher perhaps.

The Awakening

Is any of the two dream scenarios realistic in the real world?  Most unlikely.

The trade negotiations will take years to complete with EU and other countries. Trade negotiations by their nature involve some loss of independence(sovereignty) with give and take on both sides.

Wilbur Ross in USA seeks to take advantage of UK's current position.  We can presume other countries will try to do likewise if given a chance.

The "ignore the blonde" film clip  in the film Beautiful Mind is linked to economic theory.  It would seem trade agreements involve some sacrifice of sovereignty(self interests).
