Headline shares are tipped to open between 40 and 45 points lower, according to financial websites, after Asian markets trended lower this morning. In the US last night, the Dow edged down 8 points at 10,442, the Nasdaq Composite was flat at 2,289 and the S&P 500 was down 4 points at 1,113. In Asia today, the Nikkei was down 114.08 points at 10,123.93, while the Hang Seng ended the morning ahead 15.86 points at 20,928.04. Crude oil traded at $77.89 a barrel on Nymex and gold settled at $1,239 an ounce.
LONDON MARKETS
In the corporate diary for the day, final results are scheduled from Creston (LON:CRE), Daisy Group (LON:DAY), Halma (LON:HLMA) and Norcros Plc (LON:NXR). Interim results are due from Chemring Group (LON:CHG) while Whitbread (LON:WTB) will issue a trading statement.
Batm Advanced Communications (LON:BVC), China Shoto (LON:CHNS), Norcon (LON:NCON), Northern Electric plc, Richoux Group (LON:RIC), Rtc Group (LON:RTC), Sunrise Resources (LON:SRES), Vertu Motors Plc (LON:VTU) and Whitbread Plc will host their AGMs/EGMs.
