Headline shares are tipped to open twenty to twenty-five points lower today, taking a lead from heavy falls in New York and Asia overnight, with fund managers a likely focus on EU legislation fears. In the US last night, the Dow slumped 114 points at 10,783, the Nasdaq Composite fell 31 points at 2,394 and the S&P500 lost 14 points at 1,157. In Asia today, the Nikkei was last down 126.08 points at 10,494.47, while the Hang Seng ended the morning off 69.66 points at 20,352.8. Crude oil traded at $74.07 a barrel on Nymex and gold settled at $1,236 an ounce.
LONDON MARKETS
In a quieter corporate diary than of late, final results are due from Reliance Infrastructure. Trading statements are expected from Computacenter (LON:CCC), Gartmore Group, Hansard Global Plc (LON:HSD), Intertek, Ladbrokes (LON:LAD), Renishaw (LON:RSW) and Unite Group (LON:UTG).
