Headline shares are tipped to open thirty to thirty-five points higher today, according to financial websites, on a quiet day for company news, with BP (LON:BP.) a likely focus on asset sale plans and miners on supertax deals. In the US last night, the Dow lost 41 points at 9,733, the Nasdaq Composite fell 8 points at 2,101 and the S&P500 shed 3 points at 1,027. In Asia today, the Nikkei was last up 29.43 points at 9,221.03, while the Hang Seng ended the morning off 277.57 points at 19,851.42. Crude oil traded at $72.95 a barrel on Nymex while gold settled at $1,208 an ounce.
