Headline shares are tipped to open forty-six to fifty-two points lower today, investors cautious as the inter-party political wrangling continues in London, with BA a focus as new strike threats loom. In the US last night, the Dow gained 405 points at 10,785, the Nasdaq Composite added 109 points at 2,375 and the S&P500 rose 49 points at 1,160. In Asia today, the Nikkei was last down 70.3 points at 10,460.4, while the Hang Seng ended the morning off 291.28 points at 20,135.36. Crude oil traded at $77.22 a barrel on Nymex. Gold settled at $1,204 an ounce.

LONDON MARKETS

The latest UK Industrial Production and Manufacturing Production readings are published at 9:30am. In the corporate diary for the day, interim results are due from Avon Rubber (LON:AVON), Easyjet (LON:EZJ), Enterprise Inns (LON:ETI), Southern Cross Healthcare Group Plc (LON:SCHE) Group, Inmarsat (LON:ISAT), Intercontinental Hotels Group (LON:IHG), Tui Travel Plc (LON:TT.) and United Drug (LON:UDG).

Final results are scheduled from Babcock International Group (LON:BAB) and Toyota Motor. Trading statements are expected from Aviva (LON:AV.), Henderson Group (LON:HGG), International Power (LON:IPR), Serco Group (LON:SRP), SuperGroup and Talk Talk Telecom.

Blackrock Latin American (LON:BRLA), Burst Media, Capita Group (LON:CPI), Henderson Group (LON:HGG), Impax Environmental Markets, Kingdom Hotel Investments, Macfarlane Group (LON:MACF), MCB Finance Group, Merchants Trust, Salamander Energy Plc (LON:SMDR), Serco Group (LON:SRP), Spirax-Sarco Engineering (LON:SPX) , Unilever (LON:ULVR), William Hill Plc (LON:WMH) and Zotefoams (LON:ZTF) host their AGMs.
