Hi can anyone help on two points firstly is the Stocko free float stat up to date I recently invested in Safecharge (SCH) Stocko has the free float at 30% but Morningstar has it at just above 20%.
http://tools.morningstar.co.uk/uk/stockreport/default.aspx?tab=5&vw=own&SecurityToken=0P00012LGV%5D3%5D0%5DE0WWE%24%24ALL&Id=0P00012LGV&ClientFund=0&CurrencyId=GBP
I bailed out of it today at a small loss as twigged afterwards probably not a great idea to invest in something where one investor holds such a high percentage of the stock I seem to remember Paul talked about this in an article previously if anyone knows the link would appreciate.
Look forward to Ed's response on who is right re the free float.
Cheers Andy
I think this thread is inappropriately titled. Either this is a question for the community (in which it should be on the discussion board) or it's a question for support (in which case it should be directed through the green contact button below). This is essentially a data query - so it should be asked to support. It certainly shouldn't be addressed personally to me.
Anyway, in answer to your question. If you understand free float, you'll realise Morningstar & Stockopedia's numbers are basically identical.
Via Morningstar... there's 67.6% closely held by Northenstar Investments Ltd and 2.322% held by directors. Sum these and you are at 69.92%, leaving just over 30% of shares free float. i.e. the same as the Stockopedia number.
You have made the error of including the 5% stakes of two regular investment funds - Miton and Henderson Global. Stakes like these aren't included in free float calculations.
