Hi all,

I'm a newbie investor. I spent the last 6 months watching these boards trying to pick up as much as possible, previously I had no idea about stocks and shares, so Stockopedia was my one stop shop which has and still suits me fine. My working background is totally away from this field to so I'm still a novice in the game.

Anyways theres a lot I don't understand still.  This week I set up a NAPs portfolio following Ed's brilliant articles.  it was a clear and defined strategy for someone like me to invest in the markets, using the SR which is clear for someone like me to understand. Anyways maybe I got the timing wrong, because as soon as I entered the market this week with a real life 50k+ portfolio, its down by 4%

Did I get the timing wrong because I didn't read what was happening in the bigger picture in the stock markets? I've read now there could be further falls to come in a bear market. so someone like me who's entered the market this week, has made no gains yet, and straight away seen a 4% fall in a 50k+  portfolio, do I just ride it out? What would people do in this situation, I can't top up certain shares yet as I've maxed out the portfolio in my ISA.

I understand it's hard to time a market, and nothing is immune to a fall - but do I just sit tight, take the 4% and probably further falls to come. or do I sell up take the hit, and come back when markets look more settled? Views and opinions appreciated.

What I'm really trying to get at is that I'm not in a panic mode and don't feel stressed, im just trying to understand how to handle my portfolio in a situation like this.

Here's how my portofilio was been invested this week:
