Just watched Panorama.........Pretty staggering how much money the top public sector workers are earning.
Someone needs to take an axe and half the pay for all of these people. Mark Thompson director general of the BBC earns £838k!!! I think that should be much closer to £100k max. How many nurses wlll £800k buy us?
£475K for a top Dr in Hillingdon PCT ... I think that money would buy 4 reaonably good Dr's....

On another issue I find it frustrating that comany directors on public listed companies remuneraion is decided by a remuneration commitee. So in effect you get non-execs from other companies who take home large pay packets for the companies they work for and in turn the companies they set pay for return the favor to other companies to set some kind of standard
Why can't shareholders set the pay pocket starting with the first stage rather then being at the end where they approve or reject the remuneration?
