Does anyone know how to turn off / on a news feed for a holding in your folio at all?
I hold Barclays (LON:BARC) and the news on all my other holdings gets drowned out every day by a sea of FORM 8.3 RNS documents from them. A minor annoyance I know but I thought i'd ask!

I believe that if you go to the individual stock page and look under the StockRank score in the top right corner, there is an Alert panel. If you go into that you should be able to untick the News Alerts box, again in the top right corner.
Newsfeed is different from alerts, I believe. Had a look at some of mine and I can’t see how you can turn them off, the news alert box is not ticked, yet they still appear in my folio newsfeed. Some don’t even say which stock it is. Too many,I had 144 today, many seem to be stocks I no longer hold.
Maybe there should be an opt in rather than include every stock on folios?
I have just had confirmation, from the Helpdesk, that it is currently not possible to turn off, any news feed on your folio stocks. They have added this to the product development board.
My issue is, I have lots of sold stocks, going back years, I can't delete those without losing folio performance information.
Just another update, they were unaware that there was a problem and are looking into it. I also have Barclays (LON:BARC) in one of my folios, just had 11 updates this morning.
If you have sold stocks, then you can stop these from appearing in your news feed by unticking the 'show closed positions' as shown below:
The news shown will reflect this option.
Thanks Oliver, I will have to check that out. But I'm getting news feeds for stock I have never held in my folios such as LYG which the NY Lloyds bank listing?
I had Lloyds Banking (LON:LLOY) but it is not showing in my folio, I don't usually have closed positions showing.
Also can we have the option to not show empty positions?
Hi Rustbucket, good luck with that request. I have pleaded, badgered and begged for this. I did get a straight answer after a few years of persistence. I will save you the time asking via the green button. It's no. Not ever. No no no. So I wouldn't bother asking if I were you.
It was never very obvious to me why this was such an absolute impossibility (it seems a really sensible option to have) but let me assure you - it is (impossible)!
This frustrating issue was one of many I've had over the past year. Did manage to resolve it eventually but it was under the old layout so can't help I'm afraid. Hope you are able to sort it.
Decided not to renew my subscription as I feel there are far better and cheaper alternative websites that present info in a much clearer and simplified way.

The Stockopedia support team are now aware of this issue, I may do a follow up next week. It is still an ongoing issue, I’m getting around 150 a day out of around 700 to 800 in the whole market, which is crazy, most of which are no interest to me, such as £BP. Barclays (LON:BARC) and Lloyds Banking (LON:LLOY),
So I don’t tend to look at news feed apart from early morning ones.
There should be an option either on each stock or even the whole folio to turn off news feeds. Part of the problem is the change to the folios on the new site, where you can’t hide empty stocks in you folios. On the old site you could hide closed and empty holdings, which for me was fine, now some of of my folios are mucked up with loads of empty stocks, this is partly due to the lack of folios, only 10, so a lot of these issues are interconnected. If we had more folios then all these empty stocks could be put in a folio as a watchlist, now I’m having to combine actual holdings with watchlist stocks. I suppose I could do some dummy trades so they become closed but as some US shares have such high values it may mess up me folios.
Stockopedia don’t seem to understand the issue with empty holdings, I have wasted enough time on that issue already.
