Executive Summary

Forth Ports PLC operates seven ports - Dundee on the Tay Estuary, Tilbury on the Thames and five on the Forth Estuary - Leith, Grangemouth, Methil, Burntisland and Rosyth. In joint venture with Containerships of Finland, it operates three Container Terminal facilities in the Gulf of Finland: Helsinki and Kotka in Finland and Litke Bay in St. Petersburg, Russia. Within and around the Forth and Tay Estuaries, Forth Ports manages and operates an area of 280 square miles of navigable waters, including two specialised marine terminals for oil and gas export, provides other marine services, such as towage and conservancies, and is involved in property, letting and development. These activities make Forth Ports PLC the largest port grouping in Scotland, the second in the UK in terms of tonnage and the third in terms of market capitalisation. With such a broad geographical base dominating Scotland's industrially important Central Belt and its north east seaboard, and with a major presence on the Thames, Forth Ports offers customers a coherent, cost effective and efficient service with opportunities to use the Group's ports individually or as one.
