Headline shares are tipped to open eighty to ninety points higher, according to financial websites, after an EU deal to protect European finances and in anticipation of a quick UK government deal. In the US Friday, the DJIA closed down 140 points at 10,380, the Nasdaq Composite lost 54 points at 2,266 and the S&P500 fell 17 points at 1,111. In Asia today, the Nikkei was last up 158.26 points at 10,522.85, while the Hang Seng ended the morning ahead 267.3 points at 20,187.59. Crude oil traded at $76.60 a barrel on Nymex.
Gold settled at $1,200 an ounce.

LONDON MARKETS

The BoE Monetary Policy Committee will announce its latest decision on UK interest rates at 12 noon; the decision having been delayed due to the General Election. Analsyts anticipate no change to the current record low 0.5%.

In the corporate diary for the day, interim results are due from Advanced Power Components (LON:APC), Diploma (LON:DPLM), Quantum Minerals and Renesola Ltd (LON:SOLA).

Final results are scheduled from Globo (LON:GBO). Trading statements are expected from Centrica (LON:CNA), Dignity Plc (LON:DTY), Hiscox Ltd (LON:HSX) and Interserve (LON:IRV).
