I've built a position in this stock of late for various reasons including:
Strong gross, operating and net margins
macro factors favour shipping
Strong balance sheet
Strong cash flow
Undervalued on a number of metrics.
Anyone else invested, or disagree?
I like Genco but hold Hapag-Lloyd (HLAG) in the sector mainly because an acquantance who used Hapag-Lloyd had a positive impression of the company
Shipping has been beaten down over the last few years, so these companies look like call options in many cases.
I own Genco Shipping. I picked it up at <$7 a share. It still has massive upside potential in my opinion so I'll continue to hold. I also own the following shipping companies (pretty much all beaten down):
It would be interesting on hearing more about the shipping industry as I have to admit I know absolutely nothing about it.
Think shipping is an area worth having exposure to for income diversification personally I own Tufton Oceanic Assets (LON:SHIP) an investment trust which invests in all sectors of shipping container oil etc
Which gives it flexibility

The quarterly reports are worth a read which ever company you own
good discussion on Castor Maritime here. These guys are so excited about the companies fleet, revenues share price that they are 30 seconds away from a cigarette to the end.
This is trading below book value as well as having record revenues now.
The guys are technical traders and some of the video is related to the candle patterns but the background info is excellent

Trying to trade this sector I have divided it into categories which may be of interest. All symbols are on NYSE.
Containers, where much of the action is now: left column price, 3rd value, 4th% below
Dry Bulk, some overlap, there are 10 or so more that are not shown:
VLCC s = Very Large Crude Carriers, some trading at a premium
LNG = Liquified Natural Gas carriers where SHEL is a big player, some trading at a premium
Lastly 'Picks and Shovels' where TGH a container leasor is of interest.
Some big dividend payers who I try and catch before payout.
Market Sentiment is a huge mover.
Recent listing ZIM has been in and out of my holdings about 10 times in the last year.
Around Covid time I tried to trade the cruise ships CCL, RCL without much success. They do not seem a better prospect now.
thanks all. Nice recent rise on Genco in the last week. i believe, because of a feature in Barrons (which I have not read myself). Still remains very cheap on fundamentals.
