The Cladhan result is due within the next week or so and if successful should give a lift to both Encore (EO.) and Sterling Resources (SLG). Although SLG has the bigger slice it's suffering because of uncertainty about Romania (and France) and this may hold it back in the short term. If we're lucky enough to get a result tomorrow the 20% could start too soon for the competition, but I could live with that -:)
We have Serica Energy (LON:SQZ) bouncing along the bottom also but they've committed to Indonesian drilling at Kambuna in Q2 and further news on Spaniards and the Columbus field negotiations could turn it around, and is the AGM this week?
And Aminex (AEX) with a spud and AGM on June 8th could show a rise but it's been so rangebound that we may have to wait for positive drill results to get that elusive 20%.
And how can Parkmead (PMG) raise the finance it needs at it's current inflated SP?

To briefly summarise my pick ...
Argosy Energy (TSE:GSY)
Note: Listed on the main board, not the Venture.
The company has 23m fully diluted shares and currently trades at around $3.50 for a market cap of $65-70m. There is $20m of bank debt so the EV is c.$90m.
Current production is about 900 boed of which 2/3rds is gas. The plan is to drill 12 wells in 2011, 9 development wells and 3 explo, which is funded thanks mostly to a $12m equity raise in February, which unusually did not require a "bribe" of attached warrants.
Basically, the company is in the process of transforming itself from a debt-ridden dry gas producer to a mostly oil and wet gas producing entity which has substantial land positions in some hot "plays" in the WCSB (Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin).
These plays tend to go by the name of the geological strata. Argosy has exposure to the Montney (oil), Duvernay (wet gas) and most importantly the "Alberta Bakken" (oil). Based on my reading these are the top 3 names in the Canadian oil patch as of this moment. Note though that my level of ignorance in this regard cannot be under-estimated :-)
I'll leave the rest to DYOR (if you're interested), but there may be imminent news from one of the two or three wells being drilled/completed/tested at the moment. With the lovely small float (insiders own 33%) there is a good chance a decent run up might occur should the market view things in a positive light.

Blast. Forgot about the compo this month. P'raps just time to sneak under the wire (since no RNS's yet??). If so then:
BLVN or FPM or PCI look my faves for a move on flow test results. AEX on spud news(?) Hmmm not sure in this market....maybe ROZ (Rodinia) on news of their spud?? Then again, they've already gone from 130c odd to 180c odd since I mentioned them here (still chickenfeed if they do succeed).....
On the basis that I've backed them before, I'd plump for PCI - if AT5 is successful then its game on for the field. Then again, BLVN and FPM's tests are pretty critical as well (aren't they all???)
Okay, up pick is PCI, no, BLVN, no, FPM, no, PCI, no, AEX, no, ROZ, no, Ah sod it....PCI
Down? PMG still insane valuationn espec relative to DEO, its jv parnet who actually has "proper" assets besides the JV and some blarney...

Having a bit of trouble separately the top two this month. The closing month end prices from
various web sites are not exactly the same!! Most of them that I usually use seem to favour Global Energy Development (LON:GED) but at least 'iii' favours Coastal Energy (LON:CEO) . If anyone can offer a solution, please let me know. In the meantime Thegreatgeraldo and Flyingbull are provisionally declared winners! Congratulations to both!!!

No such price gathering problem for the ">20% Down" competition, flyingbull's SeaEnergy (LON:SEA) is lost at sea with a massive 54.5% reduction as its divestment was not as good as expected by the market. On reflection, it is debatable on whether SEA can now be called an oil/gas focus company giving its heavy emphasis on the the renewable sector. To avoid potential disagreement, I think I'll disallow it for the stock competitions until it has become a largely oil/gas focus company again. Therefore, congratulations to Sporazene for winning the >20% Down competition with a brilliant 37.3% reduction with Europa Oil & Gas (LON:EOG) !!!
