ABG is largest gold producer in Tanzania and one of Africa's five largest gold producers.
Barrick’s Africa region consists of four operating mines and one project: the North Mara, Bulyanhulu, Tulawaka and Buzwagi mines; and the Kabanga nickel joint-venture project with Xstrata plc in Tanzania.
The region hosts 18.4 million ounces of proven and probable gold reserves1 and produced 545,000 ounces of gold in 2008 at total cash costs of $560 per ounce.
ABG confirms production and cash cost guidance of 800,000 to 850,000 ounces at $450 to $500 cash cost per ounce respectively for 2010.
