We are doing some research looking at the use of corporate blogs by UK listed companies. In the US, 32% of Fortune 100 companies have a corporate blog [1] , up from 16 in April 2009 [2]
Initial research suggests that there are only 4 FTSE 100 companies with a corporate blog:
- Thomson Reuters - http://tomglocer.com/
- Carnival - http://johnhealdsblog.com/
- Cadbury - http://www.cadburydairymilk.typepad.com/
- Centrica - http://www.centrica.co.uk/views
Although the following companies apparently do have something blog-like (but aimed at recruitment, consumer advice, rather than corporate strategy): Aviva, BAE Systems, BT, BSkyB, Friends Provident, G4S, GlaxoSmithKline, HSBC, National Grid, Sage, Standard Chartered & Vodafone. [3]
If anyone is aware of other examples (either within the FTSE100 or smaller companies), do let us know. Or any thoughts on why blogging might be so scarce amongst UK companies - is it a failure to embrace technology? Distrust of social media? Concerns about disclosure issues? Cultural differences?
Cheers!
