The copper-gold exploration projects are located in the highly prospective Chilean Coastal Cordillera region. The Company is specifically exploring for Iron Oxide Copper Gold targets similar to the Chilean Candelaria mine currently operated by Phelps Dodge Corporation. Western GoldFields is in the process of bringing the Mesquite gold mine in California back into production and also holds a portfolio of exploration projects in Nevada and California. In addition, as part of its future strategy and subject to the resources available to the Group, the Company intends to seek other opportunities in the mining sector where the management team believes it can add value, via a combination of finance and expertise.
