Mark Slater, co-founder and chief investment officer of Slater Investments, talks about his outlook on investing in the UK.

The Slater Growth fund was the top performer in the UK All Company fund sector over the three years to the end of 2011.

Mark Slater, co-founder and chief investment officer of Slater Investments – and son of famous investor and author of The Zulu Principle Jim Slater – has a Citywire AA rating and he oversees the portfolio along with the MFM Bowland and Recovery funds.

The Growth fund has returned 184.7% over the past three years, compared with the FTSE All-Share index's total return of 67.8%.

Slater says that with a difficult path ahead for the UK economy, he thinks investing in the country is going to be a challenge, though it won't be impossible as there are companies out there with potential for growth.
