Do you try to time the market? Fund managers don't want you to attempt this because they want your fees 24/365 in all market conditions. And most investment magazines & forums need advertising revenues that are forced to comply with with line of thought by the fund managers that spend so much on advertising. However, I am convinced that this is not the best way forward. If you are out of the market when it suffers big losses, then you will do far, far better than the rest.

Do you try to time the market? How well does it work for you? How long is your typical holding period. For me it's 6 months. For me this is working very well. What is it for you?
