Up - Rodinia (ROZ.V). Its been weak of late and could be up ahead of spudding the first of its transformational wells (multi bn Bbls) in Oz

Down - PMG - still too high.

Up Rialto Energy : RIA (ASX)

I feel very comfortable that this share will advance >20% in the near future, provided that the political situation in the Ivory Coast improves to the extent that normal business is re-established in the not too distant future. Indeed, I think complete normality would see 40% increase but that's rather speculative for now. To date, things have got better with the new President finally installed and sanctions gradually being lifted. A key pointer would be Anadarko lifting force majeure, enacted last February over their assets.

Looking further ahead, it seems Afren is contemplating the possibilty of joint development of their assets with operators of adjoining blocks. Rialto is slam bang next door and seems the obvious choice. A coming together in some form or another would provide some excellent synergies...not least commercialistion of gas, whereby Afren own and operate the nearby onshore Lion Gas plant.

I rather like this company, the assets they hold and the ex Addax executives leading them. Yes, apart from geological risk, albeit pretty well understood, there is political risk which could damage one's investment but this is fairly typical of many a situation in the past where experienced managements have overcome the problems. This is not a one way bet but I think the odds are leaning in favour of anyone taking a position right now. I have a modest investment in Rialto which I might add to as things progress...or dump if it all goes wrong!

Hi flyingbull...

As it's a Bank Holiday and markets don't open until tomorrow - hope you'll accept my entry...same again actually...

UP: AEX again - surprised the recent news hasn't pushed it up further already - perhaps still to many stale bulls

DOWN: PMG again - reasons haven't changed and price will bump down if any deal ever done...

Good evening fb - and thanks once again.

I am going to take a bit of a flyer and go for Antrim (AEY) in the hope that RAK are nearing the end of their negotiations with the Tanzanian government. Given that the latter have been so helpful to AEX, why not to AEY? If the Pemba Island PSA comes good then AEY's potential 30% would look pretty good (and they have all the UK stuff as back up).

No down. I used to permanently go for FRR but I have given up.

Very unusual for Canadian oil stocks to come out on top in these two competitions!

In the Up competition:
Westernzagros (WZR.V) gained a mouth watering 75.5% with oil flow from their
discovery well in Kurdistan. A big congrat to Iron Pyrites and Wistman!!

In the Down Competition:
Sterling Resources (SLG.V), just edging out XEL by a fraction, lost a substantial 52.2%
due to below par results from the Cladham appraisal wells. Congrat to Repobear!

Many thanks for Ryanandbethan for gathering the entries and the prices.
