Mello 2018 - Where's the party!

Thursday, Mar 08 2018 by

For those who don't know what it is -

Actually considering going to this now as I had a slight change in the diary.

I guess I have 3 reasons...

1 - To listen to the speakers

2 - To put some faces to (Stockopedia) names and meet the Stockopedia crew

3 - To listen to the exhibitors

And to, of course, party a little!

So, having not been to a Mello before...

Who's going, where you staying (just roughly), near the venue, near the centre - Where's the party on Thursday? Where's the party on Friday?

All being well, hoping to meet many of you there.

When I mentioned Mello 2018, & I asked for a price for 2 nights, Hallmark Midland quoted me £80.
Upon questioning, they confirmed that is £80 PER NIGHT, which is not at all reasonable when I can get 2 nights in the same hotel on for £143.

So that "Special Rate " is higher than the market rate.   Their reply was also misleading.

They did the same to me so I used opado or something like that, about £110 for 2 nights, I just noticed - no breakfast though.

Room rates change all the time on the late booking sites. We merely guaranteed that seven hotels would give us a reasonable group booking rate up to a certain date so we had reserved rooms just in case another event was on in Derby. That way we know 300 people can stay overnight without problems.....the late booking sites will beat those prices closer to the April 25th of course but you run a risk of getting the hotel you want.

As for entertainment as we have 200 plus investors staying in Derby on the Wednesday I am planning entertainment for you all in the Conference Centre so we may have an early bonus session with a couple of live interviews and panel sessions plus a live tribute act on stage which looks like it will be Abba for a bit of fun.

That way you will all get to know each other a little before the real action starts on the Thursday morning ...

Hope that helps

I went to the last Mello 2 day event. Listened to Leon Boros talking about "quality at a reasonable price". He used BVXP as an example. I went away, did some research and bought the next day. Plus I learned a lot. Total return circa 180%. Worth the trip and more. Hope to see you there

Julian - Similar Mello 2014 experience although I brought an initial Bioventix (LON:BVXP) holding just before Mello. At Mello I listened to Leon and I was impressed with the the Bioventix MD Peter Harrison, so brought some more.  I dug out my buying notes from 2014...

....Undervalued small biotech share with fantastic profitability. Operationally geared. Invitro testing market growing at 7% annually, but sales and EPS should rise at +20%/annum. Paying out 2/3rd profit as Dividend. Conservative broker forecasts. Will be difficult to sell if tanks.

I have held, part sold, re-brought and top sliced Bioventix since and am showing a cashed in gain of £44K to date, so am very pleased. Well worth the Mello visit.  This morning I also signed up for the Sharesoc Masterclass on Friday pm (at which Leon is a panelist), because I think investing should be a never ending learning process.   Ian

Please be aware there are very few Masterclass tickets left. They have not only sold like the proverbial hot cakes but also far too quickly so we are going to have to try to cope with the demand. The early bird offer closed but they are still very good value.

Yes, definitely a similar experience. I have also bought more, top sliced and bought more again. My total gains are not as high as yours but definitely enough to have made that visit to Mello more than worthwhile. And yes, I will be at the Masterclass as well. It would be nice to find another Bioventix. I am trying to refine my stock selection process so that I can concentrate more on the Bioventix type shares (large moats protecting their businesses). See you in Derby Julian

I am not sure if this is the correct place, however is there anyone traveling up from Bournemouth?

Hi David (and all),

Is there a schedule for Thursday/Friday - E.g. What companies and speakers are speaking where and when?

Sorry if I have missed it but can't find it on the site.

Thanks in advance.

ps - What time and where is the Abba party on Wednesday (I think I seen it mentioned somewhere)?

Looking forward to going to Mello this week.

Very nice to have Wednesday evening's bonus session. Thank you for organising it.  I will certainly enjoy it as a taster for Thursday and Friday.

Arriving Wednesday will also give me a chance to review what I definitely must see and what timewise I can afford to leave out on Thursday and Friday.

I will be there Thursday and Friday.

Staying in the Penta Hotel - looks like it is the other (wrong) side of the tracks from the Stuart or the Hallmark.

Looking forward to this, hope to say hello to many new faces. Does anyone know if Redstoneconnect are on the agenda? I thought they were but can't see them on the detailed schedule. Thanks

With just 2 days before the start of Mello2018 we have just 43 places available for Thursday & 69 left for Friday so if any of you need a ticket for either or both days the Mello team are happy to offer one day tickets for just £30 using this link

Wouldn't miss this event - it's an absolute must - excellent line up of companies and brilliant speakers.

I'm staying up the road at the Best Western - the Stuart Hotel

Hope to see you all.

Cheers Maddox
