Trans-siberian Gold (LON:TSG)

Does anyone have any thoughts on the offer by Horvik for TSG at 118p? Seems like a very low offer to me. One thing that caught my eye in the Directors' justification for recommending the Offer was the statement that:

" The outlook for gold is uncertain, with market consensus on the long-term price of gold being materially below that of the current spot price"

If gold mining company directors aren't long term bullish on the price of gold given govt & CB interventions, then who is?

I'm still scratching my head over the copper super-cycle stuff and the claims that EVs are responsible. Just based on page 1 googling:-

Current annual demand: 28m tn

EV takes 60kg more Cu than petrol (80-20)

Worldwide annual car sales: 70m units

So if 10% of petrol sales are displaced by EVs (possibly well overstated for now - may be true for wealthy nations but surely take-up will be slower in emerging markets other than China) my fag packet translates this to incremental annual demand of 0.1 x 70m x 60kg = 0.4m tn, or 1.5% of total Cu demand.

Yes I get that hybrids will add a bit (40kg Cu content), likewise charge stations (but they're what 1 per 50-100 EVs?) plus some more for associated high current wiring. Is this really enough to tip the scale that much against normal year to year fluctuations in car sales, which I assume are still well depressed by covid?

Windfarms were also mentioned - I'm sure they consume a lot of Cu but construction has been progressing for years now and a fair part of the UK coastline is already surrounded by offshore farms. Is the build rate really escalating? SP of Vestas and Oersted is well off their highs.

Data centres strike me as another possible demand culprit.

So, overall I can see EVs being a major factor in years to come, but I'm not that convinced of their impact currently especially given the reduction in construction activity from covid. Is there not time for production to be stepped up and new mines brought on-line before a supply/demand crisis develops? Could the 'super-cycle' be just an new investment marketing theme promoted by the likes of Goldmans?

I do get that rare earths maybe much more impacted by EV growth than 'mundane' copper.

Possible counter points to consider:

% new cars sold that are EVs is currently 6.6% in UK (https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-...)
- Higher in some other countries, though admittedly much lower in most...but
Supercycles are long (last full oil cycle was ~30 years - https://www.visualcapitalist.c...)
Seems (to me) very likely that we'll hit well above > 10% within next 30 years
Copper (and others) will be priced on estimated demand as well as current demand

given the recent mineral resource uplift announcement especially, I think the bid is quite a low offer.

that said I've sold rather than sitting it out - no guarantees of a counter offer and if the management are this keen to cut and run, why would they work harder for it..

Highland Gold Mining (LON:HGM) not too long ago similarly snapped up at a similarly cheap rate, given the potential.
