Executive Summary
Founded in 1899 by William Morrison, the company has grown from a single egg and butter stall in Bradford market to become one of the UK's largest supermarket chains. The Company manages almost every aspect of our commercial operation in-house, including fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh food, meat processing and transport.
Wm. Morrison Produce Limited buys, packs and distributes all the fruit and vegetables sold in the stores. Fresh produce is delivered into temperature controlled warehouses and packing plants both in the UK and abroad, ready for onward despatch to stores nationwide. Farmers Boy is an own purpose built fresh food factory, producing pizzas, pies, cooked meats and sausages, as well as packing cheese and bacon. The Company also own meat processing facilities where beef, pork and lamb are prepared and supplied direct to the butchers in stores, as well as operating and maintaining its own transport fleet.
