National Grid (LON:NG) is a UK-based electricity and gas company that owns the electricity transmission system in England and Wales and that operates the transmission system for the whole of the UK. In addition to its UK operation, the company also distributes electricity to almost 5m customers in northeastern US, including New York, Long Island, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. As the owner of 4,000 MW of electricity, it is also the biggest power producer in the city. In addition to its electricity operations, National Grid also owns and operates the gas transmission system in the UK and distributes gas to 3.4m customers in northeastern US.
