I picked this out from the Q3 2024 Results commentary,
Data Centres
NET Power (NYQ:NPWR) has identified an opportunity relating to Data Centres(and AI of course!). A Netpower plant can supply baseload power to an individual data centre but with the use of Oxygen storage can also provide peaking power to the grid. Peaking power sells for a high(er) price. How does this work. Store excess Oxygen during normal operation then switch off the ASU when supplying peaking power to the grid and use the stored Oxygen. Flog the electricity to the grid at 3 x ? normal price. Also get the Q45 tax credit for Co2 sequestration(Subject to Mr Trump!).
On Data Centres there is much talk and some action on the use of SMR’s. They will undoubtedly eventually come into play. Danny Rice the CEO of Netpower points out that practical delivery for SMR’s is a decade way. NetPower Plants can be built and operating within 5 years . They will be substantial cheaper than SMR in terms of Capex.
