Rodney Allam the inventor of the Allam Cycle originally envisaged it being used to clean up coal. Netpower are now working to commercialise the Allam Cycle using natural gas.This is not surprising as the main backers of  Netpower are gas companies!   However 8 Rivers the founders and still part owner of Netpower are supposedly still working on the idea. The basic idea is extract the gas from  Coall (so called Syn Gas) and feed it to a Netpower type power station with the Co2 being sequestered. Output Electricity would be cheap, clean and reliable 

There are enormous reserves of Coal worldwide so the idea has legs.
