Omega Diagnostics Group, the Scotland based in-vitro diagnostics company, announced encouraging interim results to September 30th 2010. Sales increased by 15% over H1 FY2009/10 to £3.3 million and adjusted PBT increased by 53% to £403,000 (not including £262,000 in exceptional costs related to the company's proposed acquisition of Allergopharma last week, amortisation of intangibles and other IFRS adjustments).

Omega reported that revenue growth was driven by progress with its food intolerance products - the Food Detective and Genarrayt systems. Though growth in Food Detective sales was modest, at 6%, to £369,000 , volumes were up sharply to 19,225 kits - an increase of 29%. Sales growth did not match the volume growth because a large portion of the increased volume came from a lower-margin deal to supply components to a Chinese customer for final assembly in their own facility.

Genarrayt sales were up 72% to £761,000. Omega now has 80 systems installed around the world, and the bulk of the increase in sales was attributable to recurring reagent sales.
