I observe that the watchlist page does not remember the user-selected sort order but defaults to sorting by largest change. This is rather annoying for me, as I want to see my watchlist in stock name order - and it takes quite a while to reorder (sorry, but I'm an I.E. old fogey :0))

This remark should apply to all user-sortable lists - user selected sort order should be remebered.

Cheers,

Mark

I seem to remember a post somewhere about whether the watchlist / portfoio should be combined, but I can't find it :(

I think there is a good case for this. A watchlist is just a portfolio that you havent yet bought.  One way would be when someone sets up a new portfolio, they get to select either portfolio or watchlist.  If watchlist you dont ask about or display commission etc and the number of shares defaults to 1

For both portfolio and watchlists I think it would be useful to have a target price field and a comments line.

Trying to enter a watchlist, it was annoying that after entering a few epics, clicking somewhere else and then clicking back into the box to add more to my list - the act of clicking back in the box cleared the box, wiping out those I'd typed in.

However when I'd done so I liked what could be done with a watchlist - especially News & Info. Nice that the valuation page gives you the market cap.

I also now have a watchlist entitled 'create_watchlist' because I didn't realise i was meant to alter the text field before clicking 'Go'. Which wouldn't matter if I could rename it, but I can't see how, only to delete.

Surely the qualifier "All quotes are delayed by at least 15 minutes" only needs to be on the prices & valuation pages.

marben - absolutely fair enough... we can default to name order if there are enough ayes?  Anyone else?

It's probably best if we saved a preference on that...  I always like to see who the big movers are, but that's just me.

We are definitely thinking portys and watchlists should be combined in some way... and the 'fund' should just be another specialised portfolio, probably under the same tab to save on clutter.

I can't get fussed about the order - clicking on the columns seems to sort it fast enough whichever way I want it

Some brief thoughts.

Why can't the Portfolio be sorted by clicking on headings as the Watchlist can?  I'd like to sort by Value, or Profit, or alphabetically, etc... but it appears to be in no order whatsoever!  It's not alphabetical, or in order of entry, or value, or symbol, or price, or no of shares, or market cap, or anything that I can see!

Also, the Realised Gains/Losses number is wrong.  My Portfolio is reporting a loss of £1 on the trades that I have entered, but I know I have realised much more !  :o(

Re: Watchlists, it takes sooo long to bring the page up of my stocks.  I am using IE both at work and home, and there are 135 stocks, but it takes far too long for S'pedia to search for and present the information.  I'm stuck in a Catch-22 situation too as it would take all day to delete a number of stocks I no longer wish to follow.  Could you utilise a system whereby I can select multiple stocks for deletion (either by tick box, or holding down Ctrl key and selecting them)?
