Does this ranking have any form of meaning or relevance to the stock in question?
Good question. I created a screen of Market Cap > 1, sorted by cap, with a UK focus (I subscribe to UK & Europe) and got Unilever in 1st place on the screen.
It was ranked 17th on the Stock report.
When I removed the UK focus and included secondary listings it was 17th place on the screen (and 16th if you include Unilever NV). However, this also illustrated the number of dual lists in adjacent positions implying duplication. Also lld1 @ 7,247,758,324 in first place looks wrong!
The only value I can see is in a potential Factor based game of Top Trumps, however, for that statistic, lower ranks (higher numbers) should win and there are other statistics which would serve better.
In principle clicking the link should explain what this metric means. Sadly it doesn't and instead refers to market cap. I guess the focus of the stockopedia team must be elsewhere. Personally I would rather not see a number, than see a number that requires me to guess what it means.
Any update on this? It seems like a catch all "this one is better than that" but with no discernable stats behind it.
