Headline shares are tipped to open sixty to sixty-eight points lower today, according to financial websites, taking the lead from heavy losses in New York Friday and across Asia this morning. In Asia today, the Nikkei was last down 242.42 points at 10,220.09, while the Hang Seng ended the morning off 498.93 points at 19,646.5. Crude oil traded at $69.99 a barrel on Nymex. Gold settled at $1,240 an ounce.

LONDON MARKETS

In the corporate diary for the day, interims results are due from Carluccio's (LON:CARL)', Ite Group (LON:ITE), Rm Plc (LON:RM.) Group, Robert Wiseman Dairies Plc (LON:RWD) and Wichford Plc (LON:WICH). Final results are scheduled from Big Yellow Group (LON:BYG), Hansen Transmissions (LON:HSN) International and Mitie Group (LON:MTO).  Trading statements are expected from Alpha Pyrenees Trust (LON:ALPH), Phoenix Group Holdings, Spice Plc (LON:SPI) and Vitec Group.
